Harrow School Short Courses head office is based at Harrow School and has a full-time team provided by Harrow School Enterprises Limited.

Our Staff

Our staff come from a variety of different backgrounds. What they have in common is an enthusiasm and aptitude for working with children, a proactive attitude to their work and lots of energy! Although we demand a lot of our staff, we provide a positive and enjoyable working environment and many of our staff have been coming back to work with us for several years.

Anyone wishing to work for Harrow School Short Courses must be over 18 at the time they commence employment. There are no other specific requirements or qualifications that we demand of our Activities Staff, but all our teachers must hold, as a minimum, a recognised qualification to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL). All candidates will undergo DBS and reference checks prior to commencing employment.

Our Courses

Our courses offer students a full programme of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) tuition, as well as social activities, sports and excursions. English lessons are taught by qualified and enthusiastic EFL teachers, with energetic Activities Staff delivering the social programme.  You can see some examples of the types of activities and excursions we offer here and some photos from our courses here.

Safeguarding

We have significant access to students under 18, therefore our recruitment process follows strict safeguarding guidelines. All applicants should be aware of the following checks that will be completed during the recruitment process:

  • Reference requests will ask specifically whether there is any reason that you should not be engaged in situations where you have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18
  • All gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily
  • Proof of identity and (where applicable) qualifications will be required
  • An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check will be required prior to confirmation of appointment

Our courses

Our courses, which run each year in July and August, offer students a full programme of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) tuition, as well as social activities, sports and excursions. We also run ‘Plus’ elements for students wishing to learn English alongside Golf, Tennis, Dramatic Arts, Coding, Sciences, Leadership and Style. English lessons are taught by qualified and enthusiastic EFL teachers, with Activities Staff delivering the social programme.
